Description
A fossilised specimen originating from Madagascar. A polished planispiral nautiloid shell, identified as Cymatoceras sakalavus from the Cretaceous period. The specimen displays a smooth surface with characteristic brown and cream-coloured banding. Close up you can see it shows cross-sections of an ammonite, showing the internal chambers and wavy septal walls filled with mineralised deposits.
Condition report:
The specimen is in good condition. The polished surfaces exhibit a high gloss with minor surface abrasions consistent with age and handling. Natural fissures and mineral variations are inherent to the specimen.
