Description
A large hand-carved wooden sculpture of a recumbent dog, possibly a Mastiff or Bloodhound. The figure is carved from a single block of hardwood and features stylised deep skin folds and heavy features. The dog is depicted in a resting pose with its head turned slightly upwards. The piece is finished with a warm brown stain highlighting the natural wood grain, with dark-stained or painted accents to the eyes, nose, ears, and paws. No maker marks or signatures are visible on the base or body.
Length: Approximately 400mm.
Condition report:
The figure is in good overall condition. There is a small vertical shrinkage crack visible on the muzzle, which is a natural occurrence in solid wood carvings. No significant chips, repairs, or missing parts are evident.
