Description

A compiled collection of mid-20th century commemorative items and awards, housed in a contemporary blue velvet-lined presentation case. The inner lid of the case is silver-stamped HM QUEEN ELIZABETH THE QUEEN MOTHER 1900 – 2002. The collection includes National Savings Committee material comprising two Long Service Award certificates inscribed to Mrs Irene Heald of the Princes Street Group, accompanied by three gilt-metal and enamel lapel badges for five, seven, and ten years of service. Each badge features a central shield with vertical red, white, and blue stripes, bordered by blue enamel text and surmounted by a crown. The numismatic selection includes a 1965 Winston Churchill commemorative crown, a 1972 Silver Wedding Anniversary crown, and a 1977 Silver Jubilee commemorative crown featuring the equestrian portrait of HM Queen Elizabeth II. Two further British coins are present, including one George VI and one Elizabeth II example. Additional items include a 1972 Royal Masonic Institution for Girls (RMIG) Steward enamel badge featuring a Tudor rose and the motto PRO DEO ET PATRIA on a white ribbon, and a white metal brooch fashioned as a textured owl on a branch.

Condition report:

The National Savings certificates show signs of age including discolouration and foxing. The enamel badges are in generally good condition with the enamel remaining intact. The coins show typical light wear and toning consistent with handling. The presentation box is in good, clean condition. It is noted that the contents are disparate and not original to the commemorative case.
