Description
A Royal Doulton Kingsware earthenware jug in the Memories pattern, featuring a dark brown treacle glaze. The bulbous body is decorated with relief-moulded sprigged figures in period dress beneath the word Memories rendered in yellow slip-trailed script. The vessel is designed with a pinched pouring spout and a single loop handle. The rim is fitted with a sterling silver mount bearing British hallmarks. These marks include the maker’s mark SA over C for Saunders and Shepherd (Cornelius Desormeaux Saunders and James Francis Hollings Shepherd), the anchor for the Birmingham Assay Office, the lion passant for sterling silver, and the lowercase date letter r for 1916.
Condition report:
The ceramic body is in good condition with a high-gloss finish and no visible chips, cracks, or repairs. The silver rim exhibits minor surface scratches and light tarnishing consistent with age and use.
