Description

Attributed to Victor Dushie for Novica, this pair of framed miniature wall-mounted sculptures features stylized heads in an African tribal aesthetic. The figures are rendered in a two-tone black and reddish-brown finish, designed to simulate carved wood or cast in a composite material. Each piece is presented in a shadow-box mount against a vertically ribbed tan-coloured background. The sculptures are housed in matching wooden frames with an ornate repeating foliate and scrollwork pattern. The frames are glazed and secured with modern MDF backboards and metal sawtooth hangers. These items are contemporary decorative pieces, resembling the Nigerian wood carvings produced for Novica, specifically the Fulani Maiden series.

Condition report:

The items are in good overall condition. Both the sculptures and frames show no significant damage, chips, or cracks. Minor surface wear and dust are present, consistent with age and storage. The backings and hangers are secure.
