Description

A collection of fraternal regalia associated with the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes (RAOB), Hull & District Province. The lot consists of a light blue moire fabric sash and a matching breast jewel. The sash features gold-toned metallic embroidery and fringe, inscribed with the name BRO. SAM M. BENNIE and the initials R.O.H. (Roll of Honour). The central embroidery includes a crown above a circular emblem featuring the Garter motto HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE. Additional text identifies the affiliation as EXCELSIOR LODGE No 1082 and HULL & DISTRICT PROVINCE, accompanied by a buffalo horn motif.

The accompanying Roll of Honour jewel is suspended from a light blue ribbon. It features a gold-toned suspension bar in the form of a scroll topped with a crown, inscribed ROLL OF HONOR. The ribbon is mounted with three gold-toned bars representing the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd degrees, with engraved dates 18-10-1970, 12-12-1971, and 20-3-1975 respectively. The pendant is a star-shaped medal with a blue enamel border bearing the Latin motto PALMA NON SINE PULVERE and a central monogram for the RAOB.

Condition report:

Both items are in good vintage condition. The sash shows minor age-related wear to the moire silk and slight dulling to the metallic threads. The jewel is well-preserved with the enamel and gilt finish remaining intact. The ribbon shows no significant fading or fraying, and the pendant is partially protected by a clear plastic sleeve.
