Description
A 925 silver necklace featuring a central oval pendant. The pendant is set with a single oval cabochon Blue John stone, displaying characteristic purple, cream, and translucent banding with dark internal inclusions. The stone is held within a rub-over bezel setting, bordered by a decorative openwork frame with a scalloped and looped design. The pendant is suspended from a silver belcher link chain, which is secured by a lobster claw clasp. The clasp is incised with the mark 925. Blue John is a rare variety of fluorite found exclusively in the Castleton area of Derbyshire, England.
Stone dimensions: approximately 20mm x 15mm.
Condition report:
The item is in good overall condition. There is light surface wear and minor tarnishing to the silver components consistent with age and use. The Blue John stone exhibits natural internal inclusions and colour variations inherent to the mineral. The clasp is in good working order.
