Lot 163:
Description
A trio of hock or wine glasses featuring flared, bell-shaped bowls. The glasses are constructed from cobalt blue crystal cased over a clear core, with the outer layer cut away to reveal the clear glass beneath. The decorative pattern consists of a central band of stylised stars or pinwheels, each featuring a central oval lens with radiating fine lines and elongated pointed oval cuts. A series of vertical oval cuts is positioned above the central band. Each glass is supported by a clear crystal stem featuring a multi-knop design with bulbous sections of varying sizes. The stems terminate in plain, circular, slightly domed clear glass feet. No maker marks, etched signatures, or labels are present on the bases or bodies of the glasses. The craftsmanship and style are consistent with mid-20th-century Continental European production, likely from the Bohemian or German regions.
Condition report:
The glasses are in good condition with no visible chips or nicks to the rims or the edges of the feet. The crystal exhibits high clarity with no evidence of internal cloudiness or glass sickness.
