Description
A hand-painted fine porcelain figurine titled Elizabeth’s Surprise, inspired by the Jane Austen novel Pride and Prejudice. The figure depicts a female subject in Regency-period costume, wearing a pink empire-waist gown with floral borders, white opera gloves, and a red shawl. She is seated on a turquoise-coloured X-frame stool with gilded accents, holding a green reticule. The circular base features a printed floral and foliate border. The underside of the base bears a circular black printed mark with the text Jane Austin’s ELIZABETH’S SURPRISE from Pride and Prejudice. The author’s surname is misspelled as Austin on the mark. The mark includes the initials TFM for The Franklin Mint and identifies the piece as a LIMITED EDITION, hand-numbered 1487 of 9500 in gold-coloured ink. Additional markings include FINE PORCELAIN HAND PAINTED and CRAFTED IN MALAYSIA.
Condition report:
The figurine is in excellent condition. There are no visible chips, cracks, or signs of restoration. The hand-painted decoration and gilded highlights are well-preserved and remain bright.
