Description
A heavy-duty cast iron fire grate or log cradle designed for use within a hearth. The item features a curved bed composed of eleven parallel bars, supported by a thick-walled frame. It is flanked by two integrated upright posts, each surmounted by a decorative fleur-de-lis finial. The side and rear rails are punctuated by vertical spikes. The construction is cast iron throughout with no visible maker’s marks, stamps, or inscriptions. The form and decorative elements are characteristic of the Gothic Revival style common in British fireplace furniture.
