Description

A UK 1958 cupronickel half crown coin featuring post-minting decorative modifications. The obverse displays the laureate head of Queen Elizabeth II in a gold-toned finish set against a black enamelled field. The inscription reads ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA REGINA +. The reverse features a crowned shield of the Royal Arms flanked by the letters E and R, with the inscription FID DEF HALF CROWN 1958. The reverse design elements are selectively enamelled in multiple colours over a gold-toned ground. The coin has a milled edge and is presented in a modern black square floating frame display case. This specimen represents a standard circulation coin modified for the secondary collectables market.

Composition: Cupronickel with selective gold plating and enamel.

Condition report:

The decorative surface modifications are well-preserved and intact, showing no significant wear or loss to the enamel and plating. The host coin appears to be in extremely fine condition prior to modification.
