Description
A carved hardwood walking stick, possibly ebony. The handle is carved in a figural form depicting the head of a bird, likely a hornbill, featuring a down-curved beak and a light-coloured inlay representing the eye. The shaft is integral to the handle and is decorated in two distinct sections.
Condition report:
The stick is in generally good condition, showing signs of age and use consistent with its style. There is minor surface wear, including light scuffs and shallow scratches. There is a small area of loss or a natural fissure in the wood at the crown of the bird head. The inlays appear to be largely intact.
