Description
A set of four modern glazed ceramic wall plaques produced by Elgate Products Ltd. The collection comprises two large rectangular plaques and two smaller square plaques, each featuring tube-lined decoration where the outlines of the designs are raised above the surface and filled with multi-coloured glazes. The nautical subjects include a tall ship under full sail, two beached fishing boats (one with registration PR-1111-DR and the other named SPRING and ERSTEA), a lighthouse with the inscription The mariner’s friend, and a fishing boat at sea with the inscription …when the boat comes in. The plaques are mounted on protective backings, including black velvet-style felt and brown cork-effect material, each fitted with an integrated metal hanger. The reverse of each plaque bears a white paper label identifying the distributor as Elgate, based at 1 Pelican Way, Birchington, Kent, with batch numbers 8558, 8552, 7878, and 7870.
Large plaques: 25cm x 20cm
Small plaques: 15cm x 15cm.
Condition report:
The plaques are in good overall condition with no visible chips, cracks, or repairs to the ceramic surfaces. The backings and metal hangers remain intact and securely attached.
