Description
A collection of vintage cigarette card albums and loose cards issued by W.D. & H.O. Wills, a branch of the Imperial Tobacco Company. The lot includes albums titled Wild Flowers, including the second series of 50, containing colour-illustrated cards depicting various botanical specimens such as the Field Poppy, Ox-eye Daisy, and Teasel. The collection includes a depiction of the Carline Thistle (Carlina acaulis). The albums are constructed from paper and cardstock with designated slots for the cards and accompanying descriptive text, originally priced at one penny. Also included is an assortment of loose cards featuring both wildflower and bird illustrations.
Condition report:
The items exhibit signs of age-related wear, including toning to the paper, staining to the album covers, and edge wear consistent with the period and handling.
