Description

A philatelic numismatic cover issued jointly by the Royal Mint and Royal Mail to commemorate the handover of Hong Kong in 1997. The set comprises a brilliant uncirculated Hong Kong five-dollar coin dated 1997, two British 1st class stamps, and a decorative commemorative label. The cover design incorporates a photographic depiction of the Hong Kong skyline, a stylised red and gold foil dragon, and the Chinese characters for Hong Kong. The item is postmarked with a dragon-motif cancellation from London, dated 30 June 1997, and is marked with the serial number 20987. The reverse of the cover includes the Royal Mail and Royal Mint logos with the address for the Royal Mint in Llantrisant, Mid Glamorgan.


Condition report:

The cover is in excellent condition with minimal signs of handling or wear to the card edges. The coin is securely held within its housing and appears free from toning. The stamps and postmark are crisp and legible.
