Description
A 925 silver cigarette case . The exterior is decorated with an all-over hand-engraved foliate scrollwork design, featuring a ribbon-style cartouche in the upper left corner engraved with the monogram L.A.R. in calligraphic script. The interior is finished with a gilt wash and retains two yellow fabric elastic straps with metal clips. Clear hallmarks struck to the interior include the lion passant for sterling silver, the anchor for the Birmingham assay office, the date letter t for 1918, and the maker mark W.N for William Neale and Son Ltd. This 103.8 gram silver case is a typical example of early 20th-century English silver work.

The case is in good antique condition with minor surface scratches and light tarnishing. There is some wear to the interior gilding and the elastic straps consistent with age and use.
