Description
A 20th-century pen and ink architectural illustration by J. Mitchell, depicting the historic public house Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem in Nottingham. The monochrome composition features the inn situated against the Castle Rock face, incorporating hand-lettered signage for Brewhouse Yard and Free House. The work is captioned to the lower left Trip to Jerusalem Nottingham. The oldest inn in England (1189) and is signed J. Mitchell to the lower right. The illustration is housed in a dark, decoratively moulded frame under glass.
Condition report:
The paper and mount exhibit visible age-related toning and foxing throughout. There is prominent staining and water marking along the lower margins of the mount. The frame shows minor surface wear and abrasions consistent with age.
