Description
An antique stoneware foot and bed warmer of cylindrical form with a flattened base designed to rest on its side. The vessel is finished in a cream-coloured glaze and features a rounded end terminating in a knob-style handle. It is fitted with a dark, knurled screw-in stopper made of a hard rubber or composite material, which bears indistinct embossed text around the perimeter. This type of stoneware bottle was traditionally filled with hot water for use as a bed warmer or foot rest.
Condition report:
The item shows signs of age and domestic use, including widespread crazing to the glaze and localized surface staining. There is visible discolouration and minor surface abrasions. The stopper remains intact with some wear to the knurling.
