Description

A collection of monochrome satirical prints depicting anti-German propaganda from the First World War era, including works after John L. DeMar (1865-1926). The illustrations feature caricatures of Kaiser Wilhelm II and the German Crown Prince. One print is a reproduction from Punch magazine, featuring the caption The Hohenzollern (megaphonically). Take courage, my brave Germans. Your Kaiser is prepared to sacrifice a million of you. and is signed A. Wallis. Another illustration, signed with the monogram JLD and dated 14, depicts the Crown Prince and Kaiser with the caption Crown Prince: Come on Father, there is a big Englishman fighting 10 of us. A further print depicts a British bulldog in military uniform confronting the Kaiser with a speech bubble reading Gi’ im beans owd lad!. The prints are presented in uniform modern dark wood-effect frames with white mounts and gold-toned inner borders.


Condition report:

The paper shows age-related toning, minor foxing, and some visible staining. The frames and glazing appear to be in good overall condition.
