Description
A wheel-thrown earthenware vessel by the potter Christine Gittins. The piece features a bulbous body tapering into an elongated, slender neck and a narrow foot. The unglazed surface is highly burnished and decorated with smoke-fired patterns, including carbonised black lines and smoky grey-to-black gradients. An impressed circular potter’s mark is present on the underside of the base. The vessel is accompanied by a printed artist biography detailing Gittins’ professional background in South Africa and Wales, where she practiced at the Model House Craft and Design Centre.
Condition report:
The vessel is in good condition. The surface remains smooth with a matte finish. There are no visible chips, cracks, or signs of restoration.
