Description
A Royal Mint philatelic numismatic cover issued to commemorate the XIII Commonwealth Games held in Edinburgh, 1986. The white paper envelope features a printed blue and red tartan design and contains an encapsulated commemorative two pound coin. The coin reverse depicts a thistle superimposed upon a Saltire and is dated 1986. The cover is franked with four commemorative stamps illustrating shooting, weightlifting, rowing, and athletics. Each stamp is cancelled with a circular Commonwealth Games Scotland Edinburgh 1986 handstamp dated 24 July 1986. The lower right corner bears the Royal Mint insignia and the Llantrisant, Pontyclun address.
