Description
A philatelic presentation set produced in 1994 to commemorate the opening of the Channel Tunnel (Tunnel Sous La Manche). The collection comprises a joint issue of postage stamps from the British Royal Mail and the French La Poste. The stamps are presented in a tri-fold cardstock folder and feature stylized designs incorporating the British lion and the French rooster, as well as symbolic imagery of the tunnel construction. British denominations include 25p and 41p, while French denominations are 2,80 and 4,30 francs. The folder contains descriptive text regarding the history and engineering of the project in both English and French. Also included is a separate illustrated pamphlet from the Collection Historique du Timbre-Poste Français, which displays a large-scale black-and-white perspective drawing of the tunnel interior.
Condition report:
The collection is in excellent, as-issued condition. The postage stamps are in mint, unmounted state. The presentation folder and accompanying pamphlet exhibit no visible wear, creasing, or discolouration.
