Description
A collection of military-themed ephemera and collectibles spanning the Second World War and the immediate post-war era. The lot includes a Royal Mail D-Day 6 June 1944 mint stamp set in its original protective presentation packaging. Also featured is a black and white group photograph of military personnel, with a handwritten note on the reverse reading Date taken FEBRUARY 1946. The collection contains several vintage postcards and prints depicting various wartime scenes such as aerial combat, a seaplane, and naval operations. A number of these postcards include German text on the reverse with the heading Der Adler. Additionally, there is a page from a German Adler-Kalender for January and two rectangular fabric patches with horizontal stripes of yellow, red, and blue. Several pieces are stored in individual protective sleeves.
Postcards approximately 15cm x 10.5cm. Group photograph approximately 21.5cm x 15cm. Fabric patches approximately 4cm x 2.5cm.
Condition report:
The items are in fair to good condition, exhibiting signs of age and wear consistent with their period. There is some toning and light creasing to the paper items. The fabric patches show minor fraying to the edges. The stamp set remains in its original packaging.
