Description

A set of pre-decimal proof coins issued by the Royal Mint, titled Coinage of Great Britain and Northern Ireland 1970. This collection represents the final proof set of the pre-decimal era. The set contains various denominations in copper, silver-coloured, and brass-coloured alloys, each featuring the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. The coins are housed within a clear plastic display case against a purple flocked background, which also incorporates a copper-toned plaque with a crown motif and Elizabeth R 1970 inscription. The set is contained in its original purple textured presentation box with gilt-embossed lettering and decorative flourishes.

Condition report:

The coins remain in uncirculated proof condition. The internal plastic display case is well-preserved. The outer presentation box shows minor shelf wear and light abrasions consistent with age, particularly along the edges and corners.
