Description

A Thai copper-alloy commemorative medallion produced circa 1882 to celebrate the centennial of the Rattanakosin Kingdom (Bangkok). The circular piece features a prominent radiated sunburst border. The obverse displays high-relief, overlapping profile portraits of the first five Kings of the Chakri Dynasty, Rama I through Rama V, depicted in ceremonial attire. These portraits are surrounded by concentric bands of Thai script. The reverse is extensively inscribed with Thai text detailing the commemorative occasion, surmounted by a royal emblem.

Condition report:

The medallion exhibits surface wear consistent with age. There is significant oxidation and darkening across both faces, with minor verdigris visible, primarily on the reverse.
