Lot 249:
Description
An English embossed brass panel of rectangular form, typically used as a decorative face for a magazine rack or coal kindling box. The piece features a domestic scene executed in repoussé relief, depicting several figures in traditional attire gathered around a table at the centre of a rustic interior. The interior setting includes a hearth with an active fire, a large doorway, and various household vessels. The central scene is enclosed within an ornate, repeating border of shell and foliate motifs. The panel is constructed from hammered brass sheet.
Condition report:
The panel displays a naturally aged patina with a warm golden tone. There is visible oxidisation within the recessed areas of the relief and the border. Minor surface wear and light scratches are present, consistent with age and previous functional use.
