Description
A collection of commemorative and academic medals struck in various metals including bronze, brass, and white metal. The group features a limited edition solid bronze medal from The Tower Mint, London, commemorating the 900th anniversary of the Tower of London (1078-1978), housed in its original blue presentation case with gilt lettering. Also included is a portrait medal of Sir Joseph Banks (1743-1820) in a fitted case. Academic medals comprise a brass Ivybridge College medal and a bronze Lancing College medal featuring the school coat of arms and the motto Beati Mundo Corde. The collection is completed by a medal depicting a tug-of-war strength competition. Several items are accompanied by their original presentation boxes.

The medals exhibit surface oxidation, tarnishing, and age-related wear consistent with handling. The presentation cases show light external staining, scuffing, and interior wear to the silk and velvet linings.
