Lot 178:
Description
A collection of two metal and enamel insignia. The first item is an Ancient Order of Foresters (AOF) fraternal jewel. The construction comprises a gilt-metal top mount featuring a stag head crest, crown, and hunting horn, overlaid with a multi-coloured enameled heraldic shield. This is suspended from a green, red, and gold striped ribbon to a lower gilt-metal mount depicting a bow and crossed arrows. The second item is a miniature breast star for the Order of the British Empire (OBE). It features a tarnished gilt-metal star-shaped base with a central circular medallion. The medallion includes a red enameled border with the motto FOR GOD AND THE EMPIRE surrounding a central motif.
Condition report:
Both items exhibit age-appropriate tarnish and light wear. The Ancient Order of Foresters jewel shows minor fraying to the edges of the ribbon. The OBE miniature breast star displays visible wear and minor loss to the red enamel.
