Description
A British World War II-era Air Raid Precautions (ARP) sterling silver lapel badge, designed by Sir John Herbert McCutcheon Craig for the Royal Mint. The badge features a Tudor crown positioned above an oval cartouche embossed with the initials A.R.P. set against a textured ground. The reverse is fitted with a horseshoe-style buttonhole fastener. The base of the reverse displays a full set of London hallmarks, including the maker’s mark JC for John Craig, the lion passant indicating sterling silver, the leopard’s head for the London assay office, and the date letter C for 1938.
