Description
A large decorative table lamp constructed in the revival style, likely dating to the early to mid-20th century. The base is an urn-shaped ceramic or porcelain vessel featuring a deep cobalt blue ground colour, heavily decorated with elaborate gilt detailing and stylized polychrome floral motifs. The body includes a central oval reserve bearing a transfer-printed or hand-painted genre scene depicting three figures in a pastoral setting. The vessel is fitted with twin ornate gilded handles and rests upon a dark, circular wooden plinth. The lamp is fitted with white modern electrical wiring. It is topped by a large white fabric lampshade, which features a scalloped edge, gold braid trim, and a heavy, multi-layered fringe composed of clear glass or acrylic beads and teardrop components. The style is consistent with the aesthetic of 19th-century French porcelain, often referred to as Sèvres style.
