Description
A single Victorian chest of drawers constructed of hardwood, featuring a four-drawer configuration arranged as two smaller drawers positioned above two wider drawers. The drawer fronts are faced with highly figured burl walnut veneer, providing a decorative contrast to the main structure, which is likely mahogany or a similar dark hardwood. The chest is fitted with six ornate dark metal drop handles, each mounted on a decorative backplate. Keyholes are visible on the face of the top-left, middle, and bottom drawers. The chest stands on four turned bun feet. The reverse side exhibits plain plank construction secured by nails, consistent with period construction methods. The interior of at least one drawer has been lined with a vintage floral wallpaper.
