Description
A collection of brass trench art items dating from the World War I period. The group includes a tankard manufactured from a repurposed artillery shell casing featuring an applied handle. The base of the tankard is stamped with various military marks including St 103, 1917, G, HL 25, and MAI. The collection also contains letter openers. One opener is constructed with a cartridge casing handle featuring an embossed British Royal coat of arms and a blade stippled with the name MINNIE. Other openers in the group feature cast-brass handles depicting South Asian figures and blades with engraved geometric patterns.
