Lot 321:
Description
A Roman Imperial copper alloy antoninianus dating to the reign of Claudius II Gothicus, circa 268-270 AD. The obverse features a radiate bust of the emperor facing right, surrounded by a partially legible Latin inscription that reads IMP C CLAVDIVS AVG. The reverse depicts a standing figure, likely a deity or personification, though the surrounding legend is heavily worn and largely obscured. The coin is struck in a copper alloy and exhibits a heavy, dark patina with areas of light-coloured mineral encrustation.
