Description
A 1994 philatelic numismatic cover (PNC) commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the D-Day Landings, issued by the Royal Mint in conjunction with the Royal British Legion. The illustrated card cover features a central inset heptagonal fifty-pence commemorative coin depicting landing craft and aircraft. The cover is franked with five 25p postage stamps, each depicting a different D-Day scene: Groundcrew reloading RAF Bostons, Coastal Bombardment by HMS Warspite, Commandos landing on Gold Beach, Infantry regrouping on Sword Beach, and Advancing inland from Ouistreham. The stamps are cancelled by circular postmarks from Portsmouth dated 6 JUN 1994. The cover includes the commemorative text 1944-1994 and is individually numbered 06193. The reverse includes the Royal Mint logo and address in Llantrisant, Pontyclun.
