Description
A British silver florin dated 1887. The obverse features the Jubilee Head portrait of Queen Victoria facing left, as designed by Joseph Edgar Boehm, with the initials J.E.B. visible at the truncation of the shoulder. The obverse is inscribed with the legend VICTORIA DEI GRATIA. The reverse displays a cruciform arrangement of four crowned shields representing the constituent nations of the United Kingdom, interspersed with four sceptres and centred around a Garter star. The reverse legend is inscribed BRITT: REG: 18 87 FID: DEF:. The coin is struck in silver-toned metal.
