Description
A pair of United Kingdom two pound silver proof coins issued for the years 1997 and 1998. The coins are constructed from 925 silver, with the outer ring featuring fine gold plating to create a bicolour finish. The reverse of each coin displays the technology design by Bruce Rushin, which incorporates Celtic whorls and a cyberspace network. The 1997 issue carries the Raphael Maklouf portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, while the 1998 issue carries the Ian Rank-Broadley portrait. Both coins feature the edge inscription STANDING ON THE SHOULDERS OF GIANTS. The set is presented in the original green velvet-lined case and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and specification leaflet from the Royal Mint.
