Description

A pair of British silver coinage items from the Victorian era, featuring the Jubilee Head portrait of Queen Victoria. The lot comprises two Half Crown coins, dated 1890 and 1892. The obverse of each coin displays the left-facing portrait of Queen Victoria wearing a small crown, surrounded by the partial legend VICTORIA DEI GRATIA (Victoria, by the Grace of God). The reverse features the four crowned shields of the Royal Arms arranged in a cruciform pattern, separated by scepters, with the legend BRITANNIARUM REGINA FIDEI DEFENSOR (abbreviated). These coins are typical examples of the coinage issued during the latter part of Victoria’s reign, specifically the type introduced in 1887.
