Description

A pair of heavily circulated copper or bronze Spanish coins, primarily attributed to the reign of Alfonso XII (1874–1885). The first coin is identifiable as a Cinco Céntimos (Five Céntimos) dated 1878. The obverse features a profile bust of Alfonso XII surrounded by the legible inscription “ALFONSO XII POR LA GRACIA DE DIOS.” The reverse displays a crowned escutcheon and the denomination “CINCO CÉNTIMOS.” The second coin is extremely degraded, exhibiting only the silhouette of a profile bust on the obverse and a heraldic eagle on the reverse. All surrounding text on the second coin is rendered nearly illegible due to heavy wear, but its material and size suggest contemporary Spanish coinage. Both coins display substantial oxidation and surface pitting consistent with being heavily circulated.
