Description
A collection of postage stamps titled Philatelic Legends, presented in two black velvet-lined display trays. Each specimen is housed in an individual protective plastic slab with an accompanying descriptive label identifying the country of origin, date, and denomination. The collection includes British issues such as an 1841-58 Imperforate Penny Red (1d), a 1935 Silver Jubilee stamp (2 1/2d), an 1870 Halfpenny stamp (1/2d), a 1916-19 George V Penny Red (1d), a 1913-34 2s 6d Seahorse stamp, and a 1966 England World Cup Winners stamp (4d). International examples comprise an 1898 Canadian First Christmas stamp (2c), a 1913 Australian Kangaroo and Map stamp (1d), a 1913 Australian George V Penny stamp (1d), a 1923 German 2 Million Mark inflation stamp, a 1969 United States 10c Airmail stamp commemorating the first man on the moon, and an 1893 New Zealand Penny stamp (1d). Several stamps feature visible postal cancellations.
