A pair of studio pottery pitchers or creamers attributed to the style of Mary Jane Mitchell. The vessels are constructed from reddish-brown stoneware, visible at the unglazed foot and rim interior, and finished in a matte periwinkle blue glaze. The interior rim features an ochre/brown glaze. Decoration consists of applied, raised polychrome butterflies. The larger pitcher is decorated with one blue and one yellow butterfly, while the smaller pitcher displays a single yellow butterfly. The underside of one pitcher bears an impressed, stylized signature or initial mark.
