A coordinating two-piece lot attributed to Shibata in the Tenmoku-Kiku pattern, Made in Japan. The lot consists of one lidded jar and one scalloped shallow dish or charger. Both pieces are executed in high-gloss black glazed porcelain. The decoration features dense, continuous autumnal flora, specifically large chrysanthemums (kiku), grasses, and berries, accented by stylized dragonflies (tombo). The imagery is rendered primarily in gold, bronze, pink, yellow, and olive green enamels/pigments. Both the jar and the scalloped rim of the dish are finished with fine gold banding. No manufacturer’s marks or text are visible in the images.
