A single dark-stained hardwood commode armchair reflecting the late Victorian or Eastlake aesthetic, likely dating to the late 19th or early 20th century. The chair is constructed with four turned baluster legs and features curved, rolled armrests. The backrest incorporates several vertical turned spindles beneath a shaped crest rail. The crest rail is adorned with a central carved sunburst medallion flanked by symmetrical incised scrollwork decoration. The main seating surface is hinged and lifts open to reveal the functional commode recess. The recess currently holds a removable, cream-colored circular receptacle insert, likely ceramic or enameled metal.
