An antique sterling silver folding fruit knife, crafted by G B and assayed in Birmingham between 1855 and 1856. The knife features a single sterling silver blade, clearly stamped with the ‘G B’ maker’s mark, the Birmingham anchor, the lion passant for sterling silver, and the lower-case ‘g’ date letter. The handle is adorned with ornate mother-of-pearl scales, exhibiting a finely carved rope-twist border. A rectangular metal plaque is incorporated into one scale, inscribed ‘JENNIE SELA’.
