A collection of five circular decorative plates, primarily crafted from ceramic or porcelain. One plate, identified through research as a ‘North Derbyshire Area Mining Plate’, depicts various collieries and coalfields with ‘Sunk’ dates, finished with a gold-tone rim. Two further plates, also with gold-tone rims, commemorate specific British railway networks and industrial areas: one is inscribed “WORKSOP CHARITY APPEAL OPEN DAY SEPTEMBER 2nd 1991”, and the other reads “WORKSOP – SHIREBROOK CHARITY APPEAL 1st. OPEN DAY – JUNE 6th; 1987”. Both of these railway-themed plates frequently include the British Rail double arrow logo alongside trains, stations, and industrial buildings. A fourth plate, also with a gold-tone rim, displays a classical or romantic genre scene of a man playing a flute to a woman by a water feature, framed by a colorful floral border. The fifth plate has a patriotic theme, marked “60th ANNIVERSARY” and “1945 VE DAY 2005”, showcasing three Supermarine Spitfire aircraft in flight and a central “COMMEMORATION WW II” motif featuring a Union Jack, all within a blue and white border.
Approximately 20 cm diameter each.
