Lot 37: A Late 19th Century Eastlake Style Wooden Commode Chair

This dark-stained wooden commode chair is crafted in the Eastlake style, characteristic of the late 19th century. It features traditional design elements including turned front legs, a spindle-back, and gracefully curved armrests. The top rail of the backrest is adorned with a central carved medallion, resembling a stylized sun or rosette, flanked by scrollwork. The solid wood seat is hinged, lifting to reveal a circular opening fitted with a light-colored, possibly ceramic or enamel, commode insert.
