A Bank of England twenty-pound note, Great Britain, Pick reference P-380b, signed by D. H. S. Somervell as Chief Cashier. The obverse features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II wearing a crown, an image of St. George slaying the dragon, and displays “BANK OF ENGLAND,” “TWENTY POUNDS,” “£20,” and the serial number “72E 174087.” The text “I PROMISE TO PAY THE BEARER ON DEMAND THE SUM OF LONDON FOR THE GOV. AND COMP. OF THE BANK OF ENGLAND” is also present. The reverse depicts a large portrait of William Shakespeare, along with the dates “1564-1616,” smaller busts, and a scene featuring two figures on a balcony.
