A contemporary collector’s doll, “Little Christopher Columbus,” from “The Ashton-Drake Galleries” “Born to Be Famous” series, designed by artist Kathy Barry-Hippensteel for the Edwin M. Knowles China Company. The doll features a porcelain or bisque head with painted blue eyes and synthetic blonde hair. It is dressed in a red velvet-like beret, a white ruffled shirt, a dark patterned vest, yellow breeches, and soft brown shoes, depicting a historical or thematic figure. The doll is presented in its original cardboard box with internal tissue paper branded ‘Knowles Dolls’ and bears the inscription “LIMITED EDITION OF FINE CHINA.”
