A Queen Victoria Diamond Jubilee Silver Medal, dated 1837-1897. This round, silvery-grey metal commemorative medal features a left-facing profile bust of a young woman on the obverse, accompanied by the Latin inscription “LONGI-TVDO DIERVM IN DEXTERA EIVS ET IN SINISTRA GLORIA” (Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand glory), dated “1837” below a stylized wreath. The reverse displays a left-facing crowned profile bust of an older woman, clearly identifiable as Queen Victoria, encircled by the Latin legend “VICTORIA ANNA REGNI SEXAGESIMVM FELICITER CLAUDIT / AN MDCCCXCVII” (Victoria Anna happily concludes the sixtieth year of her reign in the year 1897).
