A 19th-century officer’s saber, features a gilded brass or bronze hilt with an elaborate, pierced guard adorned with a central crowned eagle motif. The grip is wrapped in a textured material, likely shagreen, with twisted wire. The curved steel blade is etched with an eagle and foliate designs, and bears the partial inscription “CHATEL…” near the hilt. It is accompanied by its metal scabbard, which has two suspension rings.
