The body features intricate relief-molded and hand-painted scenes depicting figures in traditional attire socializing near a rustic building. A banner inscribed with German text reads: “Wer froh auf Erden leben will” (He who wants to live happily on Earth). The stein is fitted with a hinged metal lid, likely pewter, decorated with embossed scrollwork and an ornate thumb lift. The unglazed base is marked “Western Germany” along with the number “4”.
